Polytec deliver new Remote Sensing Vibrometer to market – Wind Energy Applications

29th April 2011

As part of an emerging product demonstration, Polytec have released a prototype of its new Remote Sensing Vibrometer (RSV) to Gael Force for testing on wind farm sites.

Polytec are world leaders in non-contact, light-based vibration, velocity and topography measurement. Their latest offering, the Polytec RSV-150, can allow non-contact measurement of natural frequencies of dynamic objects from up to 300 metres away.

The Polytec RSV-150 allowed Gael Force Wind Energy to carry out an analysis of the frequency response of operational wind turbines. This technology opens up an avenue of measurement techniques to investigate the effects of wind turbulence, yawing moments, generator/gearbox imbalances and foundation issues.
